Bailey's Wish List

For anyone following the story of Bailey, you already know that she was our impulse purchase from almost one month ago. The last month has been one of joy, concern, nervousness and most of all happiness. Bailey had a vet visit on October 11th and was diagnosed with an almost clean bill of health, except for her legs.

Bailey's legs are going to be an ongoing problem for life all because of injuries sustained in trailering her. In no way do we blame the hauler, the breeder or anyone for her issues, things happen. But in the spirit of all things here at Sandy Spring Farm, Bailey is in need of extra special care.

The suspicion is that Bailey has a ruptured joint capsule on her left hind fetlock. The short version of the diagnosis is that her joint will most likely form incorrectly and have extra bone growth located in/around that area. The veterinarian suggested starting Bailey on a joint supplement and begin letting her out to pasture with the older two horses. Currently she is taking SmartFlex Ultra Pellets and Smart & Simple Turmeric Pellets.

This baby horse is by far one of the most independent horses we have ever had!

So let's talk about Bailey's Wish List:
If anyone feels compelled to help us with Bailey's Wish list, please feel free to have items mailed to 85 Sandy Hollow Road, Shermans Dale PA 17090. We are trying to keep it simple with Bailey's needs as she will continue to grow and develop! We have larger blanket sizes, but our last foal was born in March 2013 (Kierra) and did not need a blanket ever.
